Comfy Cozy???

Our little girl is the nuttiest sleeper. I have almost as many pictures of her sleeping in a funny position as I do pictures of her with her mouth wide open. (That is, to say, a GREAT MANY!!!) I would mock this more except I know she got this quality from me. Any one who ever entered a bed with me as a child knows that I was (and still am, though tamed a bit) a tosser and a turner. I kicked people out of my bed and woke up with my head at the foot of the bed regularly. :-)
Tucker has this quality as well. We reposition her away from the bars of the crib at least twice between her bedtime and ours each night. She sometimes sleeps with her knees underneath her (as in the last picture), but my favorite is the way we find her most mornings (as in the first two pics). She is a funny, funny little girl!

Loving her more each and every day!

Oh the faces!!!

I love this clinched-grin!

Take the clinched-grin and add a head-tilt and I just melt!!!

But the open-mouthed grin is totally her and I love it best!

Finally!!!

Ages and ages too long since my last picture dump! Here goes (and my deepest apologies)!!

Still not quite sure about the sippy cup, but she loves using the handles on her bottles. :-)

Grandad

I have more snippets than stories I suppose, but they are all vivid!

*Lying on the living room floor after dinner, watching M.A.S.H. while Grandad and Munner drank their glass of wine
*Grandad sleeping, mouth open, on the couch
*Trying on Grandad's class ring (on BOTH of my thumbs to fill it up)
*Grandad trying to get lights on the tree at MawMaw and PawPaw's for Christmas
*Going with Grandad and Munner to the Trade School at night for the GED classes they taught (how admirable is that?!?)
*Grandad coming home from somewhere where he found a surplus store with bolts of strange fabric, a gazillion buttons, and other random bits of stuff in large quantities
*His DECA barbies strone about the basement
*Walking with him up the hill to look at an old car in Thunder's old pin - he was thinking of fixing it up for me and was going to show it to me. The way up there, we just talked about this and that. It was very nice (and a week or two before he passed).
*His leathery skin and huge hands
*Curling up in his lap right before he fell asleep on the couch so I could stay curled up for his whole nap. :-)
*Grandad and my other Grandad sitting in chairs by the pool, smoking and talking

It's funny. He is such a part of me, but when I tried to think of specific stories, I have very few. It's just these tiny moments, feelings, smells, etc. I have one very vivid dream that I have had multiple times of him since he passed - where he comes to see us, but I'm the only one who can see him. Hmmmm..

Pic Catch-up

Finally figured out the new (and "easier") upgrade of my photo software. :-) ha! Here's some pics from the last few weeks.

Tucker's "Daddy Shirt" outfit that I (well, alot of Paige as well) made for her :-D

Enjoying bathtime -- She splashes like crazy! I almost always need to change into dry clothes afterwards. :-) ha!

New Year's Eve

We spent our New Year's Eve at the Chick-fil-a (Peach) Bowl watching LSU STOMP Georgia Tech. We rode Marta down with Will and Ashley, had dinner in a bar FULL of LSU fans (and met another of our LSU friends there), went to the game, then walked to the Peach Drop for the countdown. All-in-all, it was a very fun evening (though WAY too cold). I will say, though, that I'm still not to the point where I can be completely comfortable being away from Tucker for an entire evening. I had a blast on the way down and at dinner. Then we got to our seats in the GA Dome and my first thought was, "I wish I was home with Tucker." I knew she was already in bed asleep, but still, I just wanted to be there with her so I could look-in all I wanted. I told Drew that I might just have to blow-up the air matress and sleep on her floor that night (though I DID resist the urge when it actually came down to it).
I will say, though, that as much as I wanted to be with her, it never crossed my mind to do what I saw so many parents do - take her out with me into the freezing (literally), VERY windy air to stand for hours downtown for New Year's Eve. I saw TEENIE babies out. I saw three and four year olds out (and with fewer layers than I had on) at MIDNIGHT. The worst was a boy of no more than 12 wearing SHORTS with his flip flops and sweatshirt. If he was by himself, sure, boys will be boys, but he was with his parents!!! What were they thinking?!? CRAZY PEOPLE!!!
A Family photo before heading out for the night

The whole crew - Will and Ashley, Melinda and her brother, and us

This was our view of the field. Our seats were pretty awesome.

Ba-domp-bomp!

Best line on the Today Show in a long time. (I know, maybe that's not saying much, but still...)

After a clip showing the new limo being finished for President Elect Obama...

Matt Lauer -- "Well, at least we know GM sold ONE car this year!"

Maybe the first time I've ever almost spit out my drink while watching the TODAY SHOW!!! :-D

A Whole New New Year

Last night, on the way to the Chick-fil-a Bowl, my friend Ashley said, "By the end of the night, it will no longer be the year Tucker was born." It got me to thinking. Not only is this no longer the year T was born. It's now the year she will learn to crawl, walk, talk, feed herself, and so many other amazing milestones. As I woke with her this morning, I couldn't help but think that THIS New Year is a whole new New Year -- the year when everything really changes; the year when my perspective on "looking back" and "looking ahead" is totally different; the year when the blessings, accomplishments, and disapointments I count will all revolve around her, not ME. Somehow makes this New Year's Day seem much more monumental.
Here's to the "The Year of T"!!!

A Night's Progression

This may be one of my favorite progressions of pictues ever. It shows Tucker winding herself down for bed. Beginning with awake, playing, and posing and ending with a sleeping baby, fingers already released from the mouth. :-)
